IRAD is a public administrative institution with scientific and technical status, with legal personality and financial autonomy. Created by Presidential Decree N ° 96/050 of March 12, 1996, reorganized by Decree No. 2002/230 of 6 September 2002 and more recently by Decree No. 2019/075 of 19 February 2019, it is under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI) and under the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance (MINFI).

Mission

IRAD's general mission is to respond to the concerns of agricultural development actors (farmers, processors of agricultural or livestock products, traders, etc.). In this capacity, it is responsible for the:

Sustainable management of basic resources and the conservation of the environment

Promotion of valorization and making available to users of research data, results and products that meet their needs

Promotion of valorization and making available to users of research data, results and products that meet their needs

Implementation of a scientific program around the priority axes for the country’s development based on the real needs of users over the national territory

IRAD thus supports the implementation of research and innovation development actions through the two (02) Programs of MINRESI, thus enhancing the performance of the research and innovation sub-sector. These Programs are:

Governance and institutional support to the Research and Innovation sub-sector

To achieve its objectives, IRAD may obtain the technical, administrative and financial assistance of the State.
